Kelly A.S.Y. Kwan joined the firm in 2024 following the completion of her judicial clerkship with the Honorable Jordon J. Kimura of the First Circuit Court of Hawai’i.  Prior to joining Lyons Brandt Cook & Hiramatsu, Ms. Kwan worked at McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon where she worked on matters involving construction defects, trust and estates, and personal injury. She currently practices in the area of civil litigation.

After graduating from Punahou School, Ms. Kwan received her B.A. from Scripps College (Claremont, CA), and her J.D. from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa William S. Richardson School of Law.  In law school, Ms. Kwan was a member of the Ulu Lehua Scholars Program, the Student Bar Association, and the University of Hawaiʻi Law Review.  While on Law Review, she served as the Managing Editor from 2021 to 2022 and co-published a note discussing potential protections afforded to artists in Hawaiʻi.  Ms. Kwan was also named a Patsy T. Mink Legislative Fellow for 2020 and 2021.  

Ms. Kwan is admitted to practice in the State of Hawaiʻi and the United States District Court for the District of Hawaiʻi.  She is also a member of the Hawaiʻi State Bar Association.

Outside the practice of law, Ms. Kwan enjoys listening to live music and teaching tap and ballet at Hawaiʻi Ballet Theatre.
