In 1977, Sam Lyons, Gary Hagerman, and George Brandt, who had been at two of Honolulu’s largest law firms, started the firm that is now known as Lyons, Brandt, Cook & Hiramatsu. Their belief and vision was that a small firm, offering expertise in limited areas, could provide high-quality and cost-efficient legal services in a collegial atmosphere.
Through slow and sustained growth and with attention to quality hiring of both attorneys and staff, our firm achieved and then maintained a reputation consistent with that initial belief and vision. We are particularly proud of our firm’s stability in its staffing and client base. Except for the two founding partners who remain with the firm, all of our partners began as associates with the firm. Many of the firm’s original clients remain clients of the firm. Many of those clients have directed their friends, family members, and business colleagues to us and they have become clients.
The atmosphere in our office remains collegial. The interests of our clients is our motivation. Our dedication to ethical conduct is paramount.
