Paul-R.GrableMr. Grable is a director of the firm practicing almost exclusively in the area of construction law. After graduating from the University of Hawaii in 1977 with a BA in History, Mr. Grable worked for a general contractor in the Hawaii construction industry for several years before moving on to law school at Gonzaga Law School in Spokane Washington. He graduated in 1983 with honors (JD magna cum laude) and has been in private practice since. From 1981 to 1986 he worked for Winston & Cashatt, a prominent law firm in Spokane, WA where he developed his construction law background. He is currently licensed in Hawaii and is a member of the Hawaii Bar Association. Mr. Grable is also a member of the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry and the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee. He has been on the faculties of numerous construction law seminars speaking on a variety of issues.

Mr. Grable joined Lyons Brandt Cook and Hiramatsu in 1986 and has gained extensive experience in civil litigation and alternative dispute resolution for both plaintiffs and defendants involved in construction related disputes. He also provides consultation in drafting and negotiating design and construction contracts and other construction related documents.

Mr. Grable’s clients include general contractors, developers, owners, associations, specialty contractors, governmental agencies, utility companies, sureties, architects, engineers, suppliers, manufacturers and insurance companies. The projects include condominiums, high rise office buildings, utilities, airports, hospitals, rock quarries, hillside developments, hotels, stadiums, schools, churches, government facilities and ship maintenance and repair.

In his spare time Mr. Grable enjoys playing with his granddaughters, dining out and playing tennis. He is a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers and a Certified Specialist of Wine by the Society of Wine Educators.
